Beggar, Beats, Baby & #MolyJam2012

A short post on the recent molydeux game jam last month which was fantastic.

I've been running game jams in Dundee since December and the biggest to date was the recently finished #molyjam based on the crazy tweets of Peter Molydeux from the 30th of March to the 1st of April. We are totally indebted to the enormous amount of organization that went into this around the world to pull it off at such short notice, and I feel grateful to play a small part in this rolling ball of awesome. Check out the website here with all the games.

Here's a pic of some of the Dundee Jammers on Sunday after demoing our games to each other. To create a game over a weekend was a thrill and to see what everyone who took part here made, and that never would have existed otherwise, was fantastic. We had 18 people making 6 cool games total.

I played a part in bringing Beggar, Beats, Baby into the world. This was made by Will Tiddy, Rew Thomas, Jaime Cross and myself and we chose a tweet about stealing animations from NPCs. We decided upon a unique arcade game which mixed rock, paper, scissors, classic mobile game snake and dancing beggars, brides, babies and green squares as well as a dramatic life altering ending! Do play!
