Kinect Worlds
Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 10:42AM A lot of the modules and research I'm doing at Abertay this semester have recently overlapped in interesting ways, in particular looking at the positive, educational power of games. This culminated in a game design presentation I gave on the 21st of October called Kinect Worlds.

Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:45PM So, just as Beat Box Story was nearing completion I had to unfortunately take a break to kick what is now called 'One More Cup of Coffee', formerly a Window Phone game, into PC shape. Honestly, I'm really excited about it now that it's played with a keyboard rather than the touch screen (the midi keyboard will be amazing) and seeing the big fat pixels full-screen makes them stand out a bit more too. Here's the trailer:
Full-screen & full-volume, more infos below!

Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 9:27PM Exciting times ahead.

This week I started my post-grad work at Abertay University in Dundee Scotland, and we're well into designing and starting work on our initial 3 month projects. I'm here to do an MProf, Masters of Professional Practice, in Games Development, which essentially means a much more pragmatic, industry focused approach rather than the academic leaning of a typical MSc.

Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:16PM Last month I made the trip over to Cambridge for TigJam Uk 5 and had a fantastic time there for 3 and a half days. Much jamming and merriment was had, and I met some pretty interesting people.

Updates!
Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 11:34PM I've just finishing creating a video demonstration and creating the page for Amator, the game I'm working on at the moment and hope to finish by September. You can find more information and the video by clicking it on the new games sidebar on the left, or clicking zis.
I'm planning to update this site a bit over this next week so keep on eye out. The next post and the next game page will be about my final year project, Even Bytes Forget: a 3D adventure game prototype (read: unfinished game) and engine for a mobile phone about the transient modern world, and which allows users to edit, create and share their own. Long winded innit?

Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 7:50PM This post is both an update on what I've seen recently and a test of my new application for Windows Phone 7, which lets any user view the updates to this site on the go! It was created as, remarkably, Microsoft want developers to release an application before they can register a phone and test on one!

Film Indie Game Spotlight 01/03/2011

This unique first-person puzzle game comes from the ENJIMM University in Angoulême, France which also developed the wonderful Paper Plane game last year.
Somehow all the objects in the world such as people, doors and tvs, have become 2D imprints on the walls. Cleverly the player can move these textures around to solve puzzles, eg: moving a door to another wall to create a passage.
It might not quite do the concept full justice, but it is definitely worth checking out, if not for the wonderful art style, for its originality.
