So, just as Beat Box Story was nearing completion I had to unfortunately take a break to kick what is now called 'One More Cup of Coffee', formerly a Window Phone game, into PC shape. Honestly, I'm really excited about it now that it's played with a keyboard rather than the touch screen (the midi keyboard will be amazing) and seeing the big fat pixels full-screen makes them stand out a bit more too. Although there is still a lot of work to be done on the aesthetic, and even introducing new areas and challenges, I'm concentrating on the gameplay and the sound systems at the moment.
My goal is to create a Spelunky of music, wholly different every time you play, reactant to what you do, and occasionally surprising you with something neat. I'm working on the procedural background piano currently which is a lot of fun, and very difficult to code without wasting precious time just listening to it. This week I also cut my teeth with video editing software and created an obtuse, hopefully flavoursome, teaser trailer with excellent music from Bob, Tom & Erik. The fluorescent titles are also more than a bit inspired by Drive. I hope to get a proper gameplay video out sometime soon as well when things are a bit more representative.
You might need to full-screen the video, and full-volume too. ;)

On the right you might notice yet another game listed, Macabre Mansions. This is the semester one project from the ever talented Rosie Henderson and myself at Abertay University, with design work by Isabella Wang, audio from Calum Goold, and production help from Robin Berry. It has been a lot of fun (tough fun) so far and I love working on it. I promise more info soon!
Lastly, here's a shot of Beat Box Story, the same level as last time, so you can get idea of some of the progress. There's a lot of audio work and loose ends to be done, but it's nearly there. Unfortunately, it may be the new year before I return to it! 2012 will be a packed year! :D
