'One More Cup of Coffee' is an experimental game developed in late 2011 about singing; singing while your little boat passes downstream. The game is controlled by playing music with a midi-keyboard, improvising to the generative soundtrack, while a small magpie responds to the notes you play and darts through the air nearby. As you sing your vocal range increases and your view of the world grows giving the bird ever greater expanse of sky to fly through. However, players should be mindful of the wind, which break up the music, and the other birds which fly against our intrepid little magpie. The player moves through four sections; a tower where the core concepts of control are introduced, the forests, the caves, and an ending where the canoe meets the sea.
The game was developed to explore the similarities between exploring game space through play and music space through improvisation. On one hand the player is driven by a need to create nice melodies and is pulled in certain direction by his ear and creative impulse. However, the player is additionally compelled to move in other directions through the gameplay.
Some words and imagery are also involved somewhere; warm drinks recommended.
